Hey there! I’m Julie H. Ross. I encourage moms who struggle to maintain faithfulness and joy. I help them find calm and purpose while rooting their home in books, beauty, and Biblical truth.
I’ve been teaching for the past 16 years in various educational settings including public elementary, private school, and a university model homeschool academy. I helped found two of those schools utilizing my expertise in curriculum and organizational leadership. I’ve been home educating my own children since 2009.
When I’m not busy homeschooling, doing laundry, or freelance designing, I can be found painting Goodwill furniture or buying more books on Amazon. I love Jesus, my hubby and 5 kids, and wasting countless hours researching on Google. I blog here about books, beauty, and Biblical truth. I usually post once a week. I also design blogs, websites, and logos. Graphic design, branding, and social media are my favorite things to discuss and learn about. I am an educational philosophy geek and get tingles when curriculum catalogs come in the mail.
If you are dying to know more, here are 5 random facts about me:
I love chai tea lattes with coconut milk. So if you like wanted to get me one, I would think you were a pretty awesome person!
I graduated from Penn State University in 1999 with a degree in Elementary Education. I met my amazing, funny, totally extroverted husband there. He says he first liked me when he saw me in a bikini….if he had only known what five kids would do to my body! But our marriage is still pretty great, so I guess there may have been more to it than his attraction to my rockin’ beach body.
My secret indulgence is 80s rock music. I may have a Poison Pandora station. Ssshh!
I am deathly afraid of cockroaches. The antennas on those things are downright terrifying! Here in South Carolina they call them Palmetto Bugs, which I think is an attempt to make them sound cuter than they really are. But it ain’t working! I will scream and run out of the room like a crazy woman when I see one of those buggers scurrying across the floor. The pest guy and I are on a first name basis. (Hi, Kevin!)
My favorite thing to do with my kids is to be outside with them. The park, the mountains, the beach, pretty much anywhere with fresh air and room for them to run their energy out.
So if your desire is to dig those deep roots of books, beauty, and Biblical truth in your home, and you would love to have another mom to get down in the dirt beside you….
…. let’s be friends!
